So I just got my Webley Alecto in the mail yesterday and finally got around to playing with it today. Initially I was extremely excited about this however I ended up disappointed shortly thereafter.

What happened was pumping it once the gun shot fine. Pumping it twice it lost velocity. Pumping it thrice it shot the same as twice. Now I could hear the relief valve hissing so I figure that maybe it wasn't turned up enough. Kind of a huge oversight on a $300 gun...but whatever. So I pull this thing apart and find the stupid valve and tighten it down. Well now the issue is better but I can still hear it hiss. While I was doing this I was chronoing the gun as well. Initially with one pump I was getting about 300fps and 280fps with multiple pumps. After tightening the valve I was getting 320fps with one pump and 290 with more. So I try this again tightening the valve down as much as I can. Well things finally got a bit better....320fps with one pump, 390fps I think it was with two, and 460fps with three. But I could still hear the valve hissing. Slow and drawn out but it was losing pressure.

So...round 3 of taking this stupid gun down. I pulled out the valve entirely which is kind of a pain. You have to remove both parts of the sear assembly, and the lever for opening the main valve in order to remove the relief valve. Anyway I pull out this valve and look at it. Turns out it seals with a little rubber stopper against a brass hole. Now earlier I had noted that the target that comes with new Alectos was dated July 2010...so this gun is 2.5 years old by the time it got to my door. My best guess is that the seal dried up a bit and was causing it to leak. Now what I've done is oil the seal and flip that little rubber stopper around as it just sits in a cup. Initial tests show that it is working better but now I'm rather wondering about the rest of the seals in this gun as it's been a few years on the shelf without being oiled. The manual states to oil it every 1000 shots or 6 months, whichever comes first.

So, I guess I'll update more when I've had a chance to test fire it again. I'll probably do some test with letting it sit for a while and see if it holds pressure properly.

Also, I'm rather annoyed that the plastic housing cracked when re-inserting the main pin holding the action into the frame. It seems that tapping it in with a screwdriver handle is a bad idea. So if anyone else is taking one of these down use swearing and finger pressure only when inserting the pin as it's kind of a pain at times. Went in good a few times...others it took a bit. Also if the trigger doesn't work there is a small spring between the two parts of the sear that likely came off. It's supposed to put pressure pulling the two parts away from each other.

Anyway I guess I'm sort of 50-50 on this gun. If I got it within 6 months or so of manufacture it would probably have been a far better experience. As it stands though I'm looking at trying to find a seal kit and do a complete tear down on a brand new facking gun. And no I can't send it back because I took it apart and cracked the housing on my first re-assembly of this thing.

So...anyone know of where to find a seal kit for a webley alecto(zoraki Hp-01)?
