Webley MK II 'wings'

On the front end of the Webley MKII .455 there are these 2 wing-like projections in front of the cylinder. I can't tell what on earth they are for. Does anyone know?

To guide it into the holster. So the front of the cylinder does'nt hang up. (strictly my interpretation might be an other one)

David is correct - they are "holster guides" - standard feature on Webley military revolvers ....

I guess that would make it more like the Webley-Fosbery (blowback revolver) (har-har)

you got it right...the webly is a pretty lunky handgun and needs all the help it can get to find its way back into the holster.
