Seeking info and opinions on this Webley&Scott 12 bore (30"). No cracks in stock, shiney bores, locks up tight, maybe 50%finish on barrels.Obviously a field-grade gun, but would anyone know what model, age and approx. value here in Canada?
Cheers
Geoff

Longbranch, you are going to have to update your sig line.

What you have there is a nice Model 400 ejector. I have one with a serial number in the 95### range that was dated to 1926. Webley & Scott made lots of guns, so yours will be just one or two of years previous to that. The company closed it's London gunroom in 1929, and your barrels still show the "London & Birmingham" logo.

These are very, very nice shooters. I am not a fan of the pistol grip on this one, but you may feel differently. Compare it to the model 500 (Army & Navy) you posted earlier and you will see the subtle differences between the two models. The value of the two models is similar.

Given your new-found interest in Birmingham guns, I recommend you find a copy of "Birmingham Gunmakers" by Douglas Tate (Safari Press, ISBN 1-57157-055-1). He covers everyone from Baker to White.

p.s. It should have 2 1/2 inch chambers, check to see if they have been lengthened. If the chambers are original, jump for joy!
