Webley Service air rifle

I just pulled this air rifle out of the depths of the gun locker, had it for 40+ years.It was given to me from a family friend. It's a Webley Service air rifle in .177.
From the research I've done, it's a mk11 series2? There are some horrible marks on it from someone hacking at it.
I am contemplating selling it, but have no idea of the value or if it needs a PAl ( I have a pal).
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is a Mark II 2nd series. The .177s are rarer than the .22 version. I bought a .177 in better condition for $400 two years ago. If the gun is complete I would estimate a price of $300 to $450.

Thanks for the appraisal, if you're like me, I find it hard to part with anything firearms related including air pistols/rifles. $400 doesn't buy much of anything now.
The only reference I could find on velocity was about 400 fps with .22. Would imagine 500 fps with .177?

The "hack" marks are on the spring housing cap, looks like marks from a vise. The flip up sight is scraped up. I'm not selling at this point in time, but I am in the lower mainland , B.C

It's easy enough to do. I was replacing the recoil spring on a Webley Senior. It was from 1949 and had never been touched. I could not get the cap off to save my life. I resisted all thoughts of using ill fitting tools to get the thing loose. Even the biggest screwdriver is miniscule in that slot.

Finally I decided on a drag link socket, a 3/8" drive big chrome screwdriver bit basically. (I also bought a 1/2" drive one too as I wasn't sure which one would fit)

Stuck that into the hole (with leather wrapped around the steel bit) attached to my 1/2" electric impact gun. Rattled it loose in 1 second with zero damage.

No doubt, someone in this air rifle's past has been confronted with the same problem.

BTW, the original spring was collapsed and bent in the 49 Senior.
