webley"wg"target model...antique??

Well if they put a A in FRT that would be about how usefull it really is :p

Theres a few WG Targets that ARE Perscribed Antiques.
Grant R has one i think but theres more out there Somewhere with my name on them im hopeing ;)

Theres a 1896 model in Dowels book + others as well.
If we went by everything the Fart disc says we would have Tiny Collections like Liberals have Tiny peckers.

see I knew it was only minutes away, now poor dingus wont be able to sleep tonight! Only ask antique classification questions before noon so he can wind down.LOL.

My WG Target revolver was manufactured in 1897, based on the information I have available to me (i.e. other serial numbers, both sides of mine, documented as having been sold in 1897 by the Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd.) Mine was registered when I got it, but with the information now available, I have made formal application to have it de-registered ...

And yes, the "FART" is in error if it states that no WG Target revolvers pre-date 1898! Check out this plate scanned from Dowell's "The Webley Story", which shows various models of WG revolvers - note, in particular, that the configuration known as the "Target" model was available in two slightly different models introduced in 1892 and 1893 respectively - i.e. revolvers (b) and (c) on the left side of the plate ...

The problem, of course, is that many - if not most - WG Target revolvers were made in 1898 or later ....

skit!

I have a 1885 model WG and 45 colts happen to fit in it perfect. Its never been altered either!
I shoot 5.5 grs of trail bose with a .454 dia Keiths style bullet and my WG loves it shoots 2 inch groups at 25 yds and im a crappy shot LOL

See if a 45 colt will fit! But if you cant close the action your outa luck and would have to thin the rims on the forward side with a lathe to 455 rim thickness.
Then your good to go!

dingus, thanks for the info., but how do you know your's is a 1885 model?? does it say somewhere on the gun??mine only says "wg target model" no year date or anything.

If you look at mine closely and notice the Church steeple Cylinder and the Cylinder realease screw this was used around 1885 then changed again later.

Dowells book The webley story gives great discriptions of the diffrent model WGs and there years,
Dixie gun works sells them for like $45
