What's the weight of a 9mm empty case? I'm trying to add up to the weight of a whole round... 124gr for the bullet, say 3gr for the powder.. how much for the case/primer?
If you are concerned about having double charged a reload and your load is only 3 grains of powder I would be inclined to pull as many apart as you have to rather than depend on the weight constancy of the (un-named brand) of case. If that's not your problem it would help if you specified who made the case.
Depends on Manufacturer, Primer Manufacturer and the number of times the case has been fired and reloaded and age.... Many cases are light these days becuase of the different alloys being used....
The crap build up in the pocket tends to outweigh the losses from reloading ( resizing/belling & crimping) & firing (scrapes/burrs and the exractor) early on and then goes the other way to a point...
If your looking for plus or minus 3 grains I think you outta luck... Sorry Bud

If, as said previously, you're worried about a double charge, you really won't be able to tell by weighing. Too light a charge and the cases weigh differently.
You have a bullet (124) but the variable may be +or- 3gr.
he's looking for the weight so he can calculate how much a certain number of rounds will weigh, so he can figure out how many he can take on a plane. if he was reloading, he'd have a scale, and be able to weigh a case.
All of the above is correct. Depending on the manufacturer, the empty case weight varies from 60g to 64g on average(for brass). That coupled with the variation on bullet weight may be very misleading. If all you are doing is looking for a rough weight for info purposes then you can use these numbers but if u are trying to determine the actual powder charge on a presently loaded round, its far from accurate. Average weight of loaded round 190g x50/bx is roughtly 1.35lb per box, plus packaging... The rest is up to you
