Has anyone weighed their tacti-cooled shottys? I was reading an article in some US magazine where the author mentioned:

Any shotgun under 8lbs is going to beat the piss out of you with buck and slug rounds.

I dunno if I buy it. Just seems odd after all the push for light weight tactical guns.

I should really weigh my fabarm and see where it sits. The shorter barrels must take a ton of weight off when compared to American counterparts.

I definitely understand the idea that a bench rifle should be heavy, to take the slap out of 300 win mag. But should shotguns be heavier to keep the slug cycling smooth?

my Remington 887 is lighter than my HP-9, but with the thick recoil pad on the 887, it's percieved recoil is lighter. Granted I mostly use reduced-recoil buck and slugs...

It's just under 7 pounds according to Remington. I believe my HP9 is about 7-7.5

No, Monty Python.

I fart in your general direction.:p

Fit, length of pull, proper stance and mount, cheek mount, adrenaline all contribute to a painless experience. You feel a hollow thud but it doesn't hurt or feel violent, just a push.

when they say "tactical" shotgun, does this mean they're firing from the hip with a pistol grip? i could see how weight could be a factor if that's what they're talking about.

I just threw my Remmy 11-87 Police on the scale and it came in at 9lbs 14oz unloaded...

I personally do not notice the weight, and for the amount of additions it has, Im not fussy at all and more then happy for the weight...

Additions:
- Mesa Tactical 6rnd side saddle,
- S&J +2 Mag Extension (for (5) rnds of 3" ;))
- Speedfeed TAC IV Buttstock
- Dual Mesa Tactical Mag Tube Clamps w/ PGW Laser Rails

The other one, the Benelli SuperNova Tactical 14" bbl with no additions, its 7lbs 4.5 oz unloaded, again I personally am not concerned with the weight, Ive done 3.5" Magnums out of this thing, and yes it give you a jolt, but its not the end of the world by any means :D

However people are different, some may say my 11-87 is to heavy, but to each there own I say :D

It seems tactical has become a new slogan for heavy (not just shotguns).
If you want a bunch of full length rails, a tube out of schedule 40, multiple sights, multi adjustable stocks and enough ammo carriers to hold a box of shells then its going to weigh a bit.
I don`t know what they are calling a shotgun carried in the bush for defense, I can`t say I seen any ``tacticals`` out there.
They are usually light weight (5-6 pounds), hold about 5 rounds, don`t take batteries and have a bead.
They work, they recoil and the people carrying them usually are only concerned with the prior- not the latter.
