Weirauch HW45

Nicely built, heavy and has a snap you will need to practice with in order to get good accuracy -- I'm not a terrific pistol shot so I wont be a good example of the ultimate accuracy. I was getting around 385-410 FPS (measured by my inexpensive Chrony) with the .22 version. I'm happy ... (I assume you mean the HW45)
 
Ive got one of the last HW45s they made with the original iron sights versus the new fiber optic ones.
I would agree with what AP typed about the quality and chrony results im really impressed with mine and dont see much reason to get rid of it.
The weight is about the same as a 1911 which is what the grip is modled after and it will accept any 1911 grip panels.
It is a classic pistol with a simple design that im sure will be around for a long time and there are lots of parts available if needed.
The HW 45 isnt a target pistol by anymeans but it is enjoyable to shoot and i get decent accuracy out to 30 yards shooting cans in the yard and even
get good results as a close pest control gun. Im sure you will be happy with one.
 
Just got mine recently, it's the Black Star .22cal with Competition style Grips
Love it ,it's a beast, takes a while to get used to.
 
The comments made above are on the mark. If you are looking for a spring piston air pistol, the HW45 is the best available. Keep in mind it is definitely not a target pistol. If you are looking for a pistol with which you can shoot accurately, consider the Weihrauch HW75. It is a single stroke pneumatic (SSP) that doesn't have recoil -- which the HW45 has in spades. I say this from personal experience as I have owned two HW45's and one 75. I like them all for different reasons. I sold mine only to fund a PCP.

I disagree! A $450 German air pistol better be able to hit the bullseye, and consistently! Is it as easy to handle as the 75? No, but it can easily shoot Less than One Inch groups at ten meters,
I think lot of people prefer Springers, more fun, more skill needed? Of course the HW75 can make anyone look good, but you can get a little bored with it.
 
I just ordered a Black Star in .22 from SSS. I should get it next week.
I also bought a Crosman 357 air pistol. $50 with an extra magazine..... I couldn't resist.

Got a Blackstar .22 recently also.
I love it. Powerful and very accurate.
I had a regular HW45 a while back, but this feels much better.

This is my experience as well. Only difference is that while my son can pick of cans reliably at 30 yrds, I can't. I don't need greater accuracy than that out of a pellet pistol.

I would also add that the quality feel of the HW45 makes it feel like "a gun" rather than a toy. Great for teaching HG usage to family etc and nice enough to keep around afterwards. Honestly, it exceeded my expectations.

I got the .22 version b/c I was concerned with the velocity of the .177 being greater than 500 fps.

When brand new and full of lubricant, you can get lubricant 'pressure cook off' which makes a really loud bang and likely increases velocity of the pellet too.
