So, based on some thread or other in here that veered onto the subject of ration chocolates in WWII, I decided for a lark to order a couple tins of Scho-ka-kola, and give them to my wife last year for Christmas.

I should have known better. Women and chocolates. It's not exactly cheap to get in Canada, and we're no longer allowed to be "out" of it.

Just curious about any other oddball collections/habits anyone has picked up, that they could have safely avoided if not for these forums.

My biggest issue lately is that my rifles do not look right without a handguard and a protected front sight. Makes it difficult to find a hunting rifle! I'll blame enfields for being everything a rifle should be and causing a bias.

OK grelmar, since you opened the door and shared your Sho-ka-kola story.....I bought a battlefield dug Bakelite Fazan slant bar razor and restored it for my collection. One day I thought - what the heck, I'm going to try it. Best damn shave this side of a straight razor I've ever had. So I looked into the Fazan slants and discovered not only do they have a near-mythical cult following among shaving enthusiasts, but they also made a rare die cast zinc version during WW2. Damn it, I had to find one of those now too! So I bought one that was dug up near Stalingrad (honest to goodness, the package was postmarked Volgograd). After restoration, it gives an even better shave than the Bakelite one. Those guys were on to something with that design! So...it's now my daily razor.

speaking of misurp rations, go watch youtube sensation Steve1989MRE's videos on eating vintage rations - they are strangely addictive.

I had one of these, until my brother saw it.

Actual one I had.

Sharpener starts at 2:00 into video.

Other versions of safety blade sharpeners.

My grandfather and father both used versions.
Before the advent of disposable everything.

Used to buy it at local European meat & food store, Salamico, until they closed their retail store operation in Montreal.
Prefer the dark chocolate, but females in the family preferred the milk chocolate version.

You're pooched. :)

Yeah, I figured as much... I suppose there are worse things...

Well I'm gonna ask the stupid question..... what is that?

A safety razor blade sharpener. I believe, and someone can correct me as I won't be upset, by closing the cover and moving the cord it caused the [edit] blade to move on the small "square tooth like sharpeners".
