I was cleaning crud of a much beaten enfield purchace & I noticed a six sided star stamped into the butt just behind the trigger guard. The rifle is a savage & it was ftr in 48. Has anybody seen this marking before?

Check the England - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

If it's what I think it is, you'll find pics and a description for this marking under Note #5 in the "Collector's Comments and Feedback" section, for the MKL entry titled 1942 No.4 Mk1*(T) Savage Sniper Rifle (less scope) (click here) .....http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=3537

There should be a letter underneath the "6 point star" mark"?

Thats it! I really got to get me some books! There is a v under the star too. Wonder how many time this old girl has been through the repair depot?

I don't know, but I assume if it was more than once, then there would have to be subsequent Weedon markings?

Books are good, but expensive. I bet I've spent the price of a few good No.4(T)'s on research material for these old girls. :D

One thing that's free is the Knowledge Library and it's grown a lot in the last two years, with a huge backlog of material that's been sent in from across the world which still has to be cataloged and presented.

BTW, we appreciate your voluntary donation and support partner. ;)
