I shot my new Yugo today, and before the 5th round down the range I experience a jam. Looking for a reason I notice something in the mag that looks like a brass chip. I shook it out and found that it was a primer as a matter of fact. Normally dented, spent primer. I knew the bullet went down as I watched the holes with the spotting scope. Nothing felt wrong about the last shot. So I continued shooting and spent the rest of 20 rounds with no issues.
Ammo was Russian Wolf, lead with bimetal (steel+nickel) FMJ. Olive laquered steel case. Never had an issue with that ammo before (about 200 rounds spent).
The spent cases looked absolutely normal this time, however I could not find the one that popped the primer to compare. I think, that the round was defective and the primer was probably not seated deep enough, so Yugo with its long and strong firing pin caught the primer and separated it from the case when it ejected. Do I make sense?
