Bought a Lee 9mm 3 die set from Cabela's, and it has three sizing dies. No expanding die or seating die or nothing.

Not sure if I should bring it back to the store with no receipt or try going through Lee by snail mail.

Bloody odd problem.

Go back to Cabela’s.
This were you purchased it.
Unless you paid cash, you should have a record on debit or cc card with date, amount - date- store name.
That should be sufficient to prove your purchase.

How long ago was it purchased?

If you do it the slow way Lee might let you keep the first set, I would try that first if you don't need them immediately. If you don't get a positive response from Lee return it to Cabelas.

The no receipt thing could cause a problem with either solution.

I recently found out a mold I bought a year ago had the wrong one inside. The really crappy thing is it's one I already have and barely use. LEE was no help in my case... Ah well.

I ordered a Lee die set for 38-55 and what showed up from X-someone was a .40SW set labeled 38-55. Contacted X and said to connect Lee directly- so went and bought a S&W 610 and rcbs set for the rifle.

Maybe, but I'm not sure what Lee inc. has to do with this Cabela's inventory problem.

It seems the problem come from the manufacturer..? My incorrect mold was from Higginsons and it was placed exactly the same as all my other new molds. I can't think of any way for a die set to have three identical dies other than straight from the source as well.

Truthfully, I jumped to the conclusion that the problem was Cabelas. Because, unfortunately, Cabelas has a well-established history of truly terrible service.

Yes it is possible it was a Lee screw-up, but Cabelas should fix it.

I wouldn't waste my time taking it back to Cabela's. They are not going to mess up two other die sets to make it right and then they end up with (two) partial sets they can't sell.

I do know that I have had several items either wrong, missing or missed half of the manufacturing steps from Lee last few years. It used to be on molds and other items there would be a paper wrap around it that said “inspected by” and I think the name was Mary but I could be wrong about the name.
I’ve never had issues with any of the Lee dies or molds. Can’t speak to presses as never had any. Ive sure have had issues with molds now.
I haven’t seen the inspected by paper in any Lee product I’ve bought for a long time
Could someone at Cabela’s switched dies that the OP bought? Maybe.

That was my assumption - Sometimes stuff gets pulled off the shelf to fill orders, and somebody's kid might have been having fun with the dies while waiting for dad... But you're right, it could have happened back at the factory too.

In any case, I think it's a Cabelas problem to fix. Letting them off the hook doesn't do anybody any favours.

Huh? lol. Why would they "mess up" two other die sets?

If I have a problem with a set of, well...anything, a retailer doesn't open another set to "make it right", they just replace your defective set with a new one.
