Weirdness in the woods

I've never had cougar, but I did have lynx meat once. It was part of a men's night, where all the dishes were meat based. A friend brought a mystery meat, and it tasted quite good! No one guessed what it was though... My coworker looked sick to his stomach when he found out that he'd eaten a cat lol.

Another short story, although perhaps unremarkable: a friend and me once built a log cabin in the bush near his parents house and lived in it for a winter. Lots of good times out there... But after I had left to go back to college, he stayed for a bit longer. One day he was walking back and he said he felt an intense, unmistakable sense of evil. He's not a guy who gets rattled easily, but he was pretty tense I guess. He was scanning the area, and eventually he saw a raven sitting on a branch, just watching him. He swore to me that the raven was the source of that evil.

What was different about that raven versus the thousands of others he would have come across, I don't know, but he figured something was off about it! Maybe it was a primal sense of being watched, or maybe it was something more than that, who knows?
Both the ancient Norse and modern day pagans believe(d) that ravens are the messengers of Odin Allfather and report back to him on various matters. At least once I had one perch up in a tree and sit there watching me, upon which I told it to give him my regards. I suspect it's something they do the odd time for reasons known only to them and it's what started the messenger legend.

One time I was leaving the Cabelas here in Ottawa and I heard that croaking sound and looked up to see that a raven pair were carrying in materials to build a nest right on top of the Cabelas sign, one of the oddest places I could have imagined. I actually went back in the store and begged them to leave the ravens alone but of course that didn't happen and the birds were gone pretty quickly, probably persuaded through the use of one of the store's air rifles.

Why ? When I used to hunt in that group I always carried extra ammo . No cell reception . The next hunter could be an hour away . Some rough ground to cover . Bears in the area . Possible overnight in bush if bad weather or too dark to find way back . Warning / SOS is groups of three . 5 groups of three = 15 rounds
30 30 . 7 in it rest of box and maybe a few more in pockets . 308 , 2 ten rounders and literally a box in pockets
Our bear hunts we tent slept with 12 ga loaded w slugs on floor between cots . Theres no freaking way I,m spending a forced overnight or being hurt in bush and only having a couple rounds .
Besides the extra weight is like resistance training its good for you ha ha
Now I hunt an area thats less then 2 hours from home and hunt camp is like a 5 minute walk to site . But I still carry 20 . You never know . Nobody really knows how many it takes to down a rampaging Samsquatch . I,d rather have a few rounds left over then be , OH SH&T !!!! I,m a few rounds short lol
