Pissing rain and windy here but that's okay. Keep your calls dry and yur ears and eyes open. I'm hoping the nube on the next property over will stay home due to the weather so I don't have to fight the urge to go over and kick that squawking call he beats on every two minutes call up his hiny.
Here's what I'm packing in the vest. Not because I think that many calls is necessary but because I like them and I can. The top box killed my best ever bird while the second one has called and killed a few. The big pot without holes is a "purr pot" and is something I made this year for the first time. They purr and tree yelp real sweet but lack the roll over for yelping loud. I'll start with it come morning.Brand new Spalted maple slate over glass that I just have to carry and the other two are glass over slate. "Delilah" the curly maple pot has called a gobbler clear across the valley to land 27 yards in front of me. She talks HEN. If it's raining hard I'll be sucking on those bones that are provided by the two gobblers who fell for the second box from top and the Rosewood glass over slate on the right last year. Git'r done boys:D

Getting everything ready and a few things in the car right now.
So when is everyone expecting to be out?
Sunrise is for 6:20, we're looking to be in the blind by 5:45, plus i have about a 45 min drive, and 15 min walk to the blind, looks like Rise and Shine at 4:00 - 4:15

Now the real question is "why can i get up at those times for turkey, but deer, wich only requires me to be up at 6 is so hard, and work, were i struggle to roll my ass out of bed for 7:15 is damn near impossible?"

I'm in the exact same boat as you same drive same issues. To answer your question, because we love this stuff!!

I have an exam from 8-11. I might try and go out later in the afternoon.

Same boat here, kinda. Job interview at 11:45, so no early morning opening day for me. First time turkey hunting, probably go out for awhile this afternoon. Not sure if it is the ideal time to go, but I really wanna get out there, even if it just to sit in the woods. Good luck everyone.

Iv been sitting in my stand since 5:55am, heard shots in the distance around 7am, quiet since then all I hear is crows and geese....couple more hours and I'm calling it a day.

Was in the blind and all set-up by 5:45, few gobbles from a few different directions, 3 birds tops, but no visuals, went out for breakfast at noon, and on our drive back, 10 -15 yards from us in the ditch we see a thunder chicken.
No more action since

Good luck everyone

I didn't make it out today, but I will be out tomorrow morning with my 9 year old son. Can't wait to see the look on his face when he hears his first gobble! He is absolutely hunting nutz! I may give him the 20 gauge if one comes in, he has been practicing and he can hit the turkey target every time at 25 yards. Got our gear all ready and just making our breakfast ahead of time so we can eat on the road down to our farm. Been seeing birds there the last several weeks so I hope they are still there. Good luck to all in the morning!

Up @ 4:30 am, sittin in the woods @ 5:20, hearding gobbling everywhere by 5:35 am. Shot 19 lb., 7.5" beard @ 8:10 am (but watched him strut'n in the field since 7:00 am) and back @ the cottage by 8:30am.
Not a bad day. Good Luck!

I had the exact same story other than my bird was 21lbs 7ozs, with an 8.7" beard. :D See the contest thread for pic. ;)
