Well I did it

I reload, and in 9mm, I really don't save much money. The killer(s) for cost now are the bullets and powder. They used to be much cheaper (thanks to our once-strong beaver buck) but now it's kinda ouch!!

Keeping an eye out for sales of 9mm and stocking up when you can is a good way to go for 9mm. Other calibers, now that's a different story. (I reload for several other calibers, such as 45ACP, 5.56x45, .308 Winchester)

You can save significant money reloading for other calibers.

Thanks for the info and tip shredder.

Congratulations....it is very exciting!!!! The cz is a awesome pistol and was my first as well.
But I wish I would have checked into the glocks more as there mags are compatible with some very cool NR pistol caliber rifles/carbines that are available.

Agh man, I've seen the price of ammo. It's one of the reasons I didn't go with .40 S&W but 9mm in stead. Apart from the initial cost, does reloading yourself save you much money?

If you buy bulk 1000rds 9mm ammo you can expect to pay anywhere from .30-.40 cents a round tax in. My supplies to reload 1000 9mm rounds cost me $223.55, approximately .22 cents a round tax in. Keep in mind I have a pile of used 9mm brass on hand so that didn't cost me anything.
Then you have to factor in your time, I am back to using a Lee Classic Turret Press Kit, it takes about 6 hrs to comfortably reload 1000 rds. When I had my Dillon XL650 I could very comfortably reload 600rds per hour.

Oh the joy. I remember when I bought my first gun. It wasn't too long ago, was just last year. I now own roughly a dozen and still get giddy with each purchase.

Congrats on your first gun buy. Very good choice as CZ's are great. But beware: it is an addictive and therefore expensive hobby. You most probably will buy many more.

Awesome thanks guys.

Noooo, not a few days to weeks, for the first transfer. That just sucks. I have 1 tattoo and now 1 gun. I'm just getting started.

Where are you located? Transfer times vary greatly by province. My first in AB was only 48 hrs. Make sure to call the CFO and give them your email addy and they will send u the Transfer Notice electronically.
And yes you're screwed and broke forever now. I wanted a pistol and revolver and a couple of long guns. I now have 15 handguns and would have to make a list of the rest.

Shadow's a nice pistol...So is Glock, so are Smith's and Rugers...I finally settled down and after trying and shooting many I've found that Sigs are the pistols for me..I now own a P226 MK25 and a P220...the controls on those pistols are perfect for my hands, the grip is perfect as well..Love these guns. They aren't as heavy as the Shadow as well which I like. But congratulations on your first pistol...I'm sure you'll have those butterflies every time you get your next fifteen or twenty pistols lol

Abbotsford, BC. I got the reference number from the dealer. I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

I reload for 9mm for about 1/3 the cost of factory ammo.

Awesome Jadebeer! I'm a newb too. Got my CZ Shadow... then a S&W 686 Plus... Now waiting on the paperwork for a Ruger Mk 4 22/45 Lite! It is an addiction... the good kind.

I reload 9mm at about 45% less than factory ammo using coated lead projectiles.

That's fantastic Robt6440. What a combo! I can't wait for all this paperwork to settle down and I can enjoy it. My wife tells me I'm impatient but I'm convinced there isn't a restricted gun owner that thinks the entire process moves with adequate speed. For now I look at ammo prices, manuals, youtube reviews, change my computer's wallpaper, my phone's notification sound (well actually that's of a pump action shotgun), but one day, hopefully soon, I'm going to have and hold her, till death does us part.
