Drove to Ft. Mac today...uneventful. Got the plane loaded and headed to camp. 80 miles out we just about go down. Storm sent our Beaver aircraft real low........real low. And fast. I thought it was the end of the line for sure.

Limped it back to Ft mac and now Im in a hotel on Hardin trying to settle my nerves.

Worst thing ;) is the last friendly face I saw was that of "Silverado" who kindly brought me a 45-70 guide gun for the trip. Nice dog too.

I kinda thought he might be typing my obituary telling all of you what an ugly mug I was........ I live to hunt another day. I figured Id tell you guys instead of my wife......thus my note.

Hope you all are well. Im gonna have a JD and go to bed.

glad to hear your ok....if that was me there today..
i,d toss that cork for the jug of jd...as it would not be needed anymore;)..
hope your trip gets to continue with out all the hiccups

Geezus Randy!

I was just thinking what a pleasure it was meeting you today... Glad you and your hunters are AOK! I bet they didn't 'budget' for that part of their Canadian adventure!

For those not in town, we had a hell of a rain and thunderstorm today, it started raining heavier just as I left Randy, and now we're experiencing a frightful wind on the tail end of 'er.

Best of luck getting airborne... AND LANDED tomorrow. If you don't, send me a PM and I'll buy the JD.

You got it. Givin her another try tomorrow at 8am. Would have been a shame to crash and scratch that guide gun you sold me. Id have been p*ssed off (for a short period of time)......

Reminds me of a fly-in fishing trip north of Hearst Ontario in 2003.Took us 9 hours and 6 takeoff/landings to fly 63 miles in the fog.Got our aeronautical dollars worth....For Sure.

You might get a dusting of snow tonight. We are expecting some, and Ft. Mac usually get similar weather. My brother didn't make it out this AM due to weather. He'll try for the Thelon again tomorrow. Best wishes.

The forecast is for possible rain or snow... it's still howling like a hurricane outside, and the temp is dropping.

There's a sign in a restaurant in Dawson City that says - Flying is the second best sensation known to man, Landing is the first best.

Still in Ft mac.....Im right east of Tim's.....if any of you Ft mac nutz wanna coffee, Im in room 235 at the Stonebridge Hotel.

I'll tell ya, some of the folks here are pretty entertaining......it's like being the only "normal" guy in the asylum.

Cat, if ya need a coffee, come get me. After last night, coffee sounds pretty good. I left my cell with my wife so Im incommunicato. But if you get a chance to come by do so. I stick out a bit here if ya know what I mean. I kinda look like I should be on a horse somewhere in the outback.

Im trying to entertain these two Swedish fellas, one speaks English not so bad, but the other is pretty much a write-off. Poor guy. Im hoping he understands what is going on. I might take them to Canadian Tire later cause that's where I go when I need to get out. Or I might go take Jim a coffee at the float plane base at Snye Park. Voyage Air. Ours is the Beaver sitting tied to the dock, loaded......waiting............

I should be skinnin' a moose right now............and having a cup o' camp coffee. Maybe tomorrow.

Nice to hear everyone is OK, and just think of the stories those to Swedes will have about the trip. those guys are getting an experiance most Canadians have never had. Bad weather flight, kiss the ground when you landed, stuck in Ft Mac, surrounded by roughnecks and all manner of blue collar savages, waiting to go slog through tundra and muck for fun! I wish I was there.
