Always a good idea to exhaust fumes from the casting process. Not worried about lead fumes as that usually happens about 1000Deg F, but for the smoke resulting from the fluxing. Also I use this setup for cooking my powder coating. The high speed exhaust will come in handy for the powders containing TGIC.

Fan is generic and rebranded multiple times.

Why the upgrade? Was it not pulling enough and you needed more CFM's ?

One would think that a rangehood with fan and 3" exhaust tube would be sufficient.

3" good enough for casting but 4" is better for powder coating. Planning at somepoint to upgrade my enclosure and modifying for optional filter so I can use my powder coating gun inside.

I don't cast any more as dealing with molten metal just scares me a lot after a near miss in the past. I do get a charge out of some friends that do cast in their garages and blast the fumes out into their and their neighbours back yard depending on which way the wind is blowing.
Don't get your panties in a knot, just my opinion on some!
And I did my casting on a picnic table in the back yard long before my range ever thought about lead in the air.

I get a kick out of un educated people. Me casting is not dangerous to my neighbours. Actually outdoors you're less likely to get elevated lead levels which by the way majority enters thru your skin. Most that have high lead levels it's due to shooting indoor, and ranges that are not the cleanest.

I gotta upgrade my fan.. range scrap can get pretty smokey.

I got a bit educated and it seems that you are correct that not many lead fumes come off at the temperature you cast at. However some vapor must come off any liquid depending on the temperature. The fumes from fluxing etc. that you don't want in your shop are still being pumped outside.
But have fun casting and powder coating as it makes pretty bullets.

All good. I live close to two steel mills plus other ghastly industries. My fumes should be the least of the local inhabitants concerns.
