If you own a Chinese M14, you already know you need more than a set of castle-nut pliers for the first time, right?

That may or may not be true. Not all M305s have welded FHs. Mine was actually in danger of falling off the rifle when I got it (factory hadn't tightened the castle nut set screw and the nut shot loose). Look under the FH behind the flat part where the bayonet lug would be if it were a GI FH. If you see two little holes that go through the FH all the way to the barrel, you're good to go.

If you DON'T see those two little holes... have fun getting your FH off in one piece.
