Hey folks! A friend is offering to sell me a Weatherby Mark V made in West Germany, chambered in .300 wby magnum. Looks to be in pretty good shape. He wants $500. Worth buying?

Post a picture.

I've gone to buy a mint pre 64 model 70 that turned into ruger m77-Mark I, and a T/C contender carbine that turned into a rusty topper. Too good to be true deals usually are...

They usually go for anywhere between $1500-$3000+ depending on condition, exact model and options. If it's true, jump on it!

A guy I hunted with quite a few years ago had a Mark V 257 wby mag that his dad had bought. He said It was a show model and it had the nicest engraving that I had ever seen on the reciever, bolt handle and even had matching engraving on the scope rings. Not sure what the wood was now but I do remember it was absolutely beautiful. He would never tell any of us what he paid for it but we knew it had to have been an awful pile of dough because he was never shy about bragging about the big amounts he spent on his guns.

It can be re barreled quite easily with a better barrel... the action and stock are worth more than $500.
