Anyone familiar with this company or the rifle? Unless I've been living under a rock, (or these guys have been secretly working in the shadows for months) I haven't seen this ANYWHERE until today. No info beyond a recent thread on Canada guns reddit or anything on the web other than the site itself. https://www.westtek.ca/SarissaScreenshot_20241104_224756_Reddit.jpg

I found some business registration information for a West Tech Defense based out of Ontario. I don’t know if what I found are the same company as the address’s don’t match.

From their faq page

IS THE SARISSA AVAILABLE FOR CIVILIAN SALE?:
UNFORTUNATELY, AT THIS TIME THE SARISSA IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR CIVILIAN USE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BETA TESTERS.

Hopefully one of their beta testers is on CGN and can provide more information

Looks pretty rad. I'd giver a go if the option for a semi-auto only was there. Looks like they'll offer an 18.7" barreled version so a semi is likely in the works. Otherwise, not much of a point in offering that particular barrel length.

It said "gas impingment" system so my guess it is like a A.R. with a gas tube, but it is using an aluminum extrusion tube as a receiver like most of the push rod guns out there now. Looking at the ejection port looks like the bolt carrier has a big opening there. It could be the exhaust outlet for gas. My guess is that a tubular gas piston is somehow fit into the rectangular block BGC typical of extrusion tube receivers of the current push rod guns.

This thing needs an ejector port cover - the big opening in the BGC exposed through the ejection port with gather all kind of debris and drag it into the receiver.

I mean, Colt Canada did make an MRR in 18.6 that was restricted, so you never know haha. Sometimes they use that length just for some other reason

It has a 1913 stock, so no buffer tube. It likely is an internal piston bolt carrier pushed by gas along 180 dual guide rods against 180 style return springs like the Jard J180 or CMMG Dissent. You can see the gas exiting from holes in the bolt carrier in the video from the site, like other internal piston rifles , AR-15, Dissent, etc. Hopefully it can retain its magazines , which was an issue with the Jard.
