Hi everyone.

I bought a mosin nagant 91/30 from Westrifle. They promised me a rifle that has excellent bore with all the accessories. I paid 333.84$.When I received the rifle I found out the bore is rusty and dark. The sling is missing. Although rifle looks good outside, I went to clean the rifles bore and my copper bore brush from 30 cal. became 22 cal.

I told them this is not what you promised and I like either return my money or send me different rifle. The guy on the phone who apparently runs the plase (would not tell me his name) first says ok send the rifle back we will refund you, I ship the rifle then few days later I get email that says we charge 20% restocking fee.

With all the rifles I bought from different dealers 20% restocking fee is this fair? I was never been charged restocking fee.

Thank you for input.

Have you called the dealer back to express your concern before posting?

If the rifle was missing advertised accessories and was not as advertised, there should be no restocking fee, 20% or otherwise.

If it's just buyer's remorse, then yes, any re-stocking fee from the fine print is reasonable.

I'd be surprised in the 91/30's were advertised as having shiny bores - honestly, I collected these for a long time and you have to pick through a LOT of M91/30's to find the ones with nice bores - most are frosted at best.

I don't see any being advertised with shiney bores.
I also don't see any restocking fee being warned about either. Doesn't seem worth sending back if it costed you 20% + shipping both ways.

So you have to pay shipping 3 TIMES and a 20% Restocking FEE
to get a correct one?
You should get a second one FREE (Nagant) for all the HASSLE.

Restocking fees are such BS.

A computer company tried to charge me 20% when I returned an unopened fan one time. I gave them such #### about it they decided to 'waive it just this one time'

I opened a thread a while ago where I demanded stricter rules for dealers in regards to the sale of used guns but I got more or less harassed from many people here.

The way I see it: westrifle is advertising their products as handpicked (in Russia by themselves) and superior over any other refurb Russian rifles - as advertised and posted many many times here on CGN. But you must wonder about this claim as Vinzer is selling SKS as from the same "source" as Westrifle:

Their web site states "special selection"

You paid what? That rifle can be bought for $169 plus tax plus $25 shipping from tradeex.

I bought one rifle from another dealer selling select surplus rifles on the EE before and returned it, same crap as everybody else sells it but calls it select or handpicked.

I call it scam.

Lesson learned: Order from a reputable dealer next time and ask questions, they won't BS or scam you and won't sell you a rusty bore as shiny.

Or buy from private on the EE, still the best and cheapest most of the time.

I buy a SKS 1949 from Westrifle and my experience was excellent. The condition was like they told me by email. for me the price was ok with the rifle. Its shame you have a bad experience, maybe you could talk to them again, sure they could make you satisfied.

I just talked to Sergei on the phone about an unrelated matter and this thread came up. Apparently there is more to this story than has been represented and I'd not be surprised if this thread is shortly locked... so...

LOL.....Interesting. Keep us informed how you make out........

There is always more to the story! The guy running the business will never admit he was wrong! I give the benefit of the doubt to the OP. What does he have to gain posting this? Obviously the dealer didnt make him feel good about his purchase and that is enough for me.

This kind of thing is far too common in this industry. Dealers seem to think they are the only ones out there like there is no competition. Go into Walmart and ask to talk to the manager and they practically get on their knees for you, but when its the local gun shop your dealin with they treat you like you are nobody!
