Westrifle restocking fee

Meh...buying a $300 surplus rifle is a gamble at best...certainly not much profit margin for the dealer. Im surprised they even took it back. It is unfortunate about the restocking fee though, that kind of smells fishy.

Thanks for the thread though, Ive never taken the time to look thru their odds and ends. Now I will probably buy from them in the future, but then again the last time I spent $300 on a rifle I was just happy it worked and spent the winter bastardizing it to suit my needs because thats just what you do with a $300 dollar gun....It aint ever going to win a beauty contest anyway. IMHO

There is always more to the story! The guy running the business will never admit he was wrong! I give the benefit of the doubt to the OP. What does he have to gain posting this? Obviously the dealer didnt make him feel good about his purchase and that is enough for me.

This kind of thing is far too common in this industry. Dealers seem to think they are the only ones out there like there is no competition. Go into Walmart and ask to talk to the manager and they practically get on their knees for you, but when its the local gun shop your dealin with they treat you like you are nobody!

As they say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Any reputable seller would have tried to solve any problems before having a customer badmouthing him, unless of course they don't give a rats' arse since their business isn't in any kind of immediate danger given the scarce competition/size of his business and or him being a fly-by-night . I've had it happen before to me and being in that kind of situation sucks to say the least, but I made sure to tell everyone I could to stay away, so good for him to make a quick buck and loose out on a bunch of sales.

Hi everyone.
First of all, the rifle is not rusted. Cosmoline is not rust.

The rifle was returned and I was willing to give him his money back. But when I received rifle it was damaged.
When asked about the damage, he informed me that the damage was not his problem. The damage was not something that could have conceivably occurred during shipping.

20% restocking fee is the least I can do for any damaged product that is at this point unsellable.

As for selecting the rifles, I do select them myself and i always stand behind my product.

This wonderful person bought this rifle for a project as he mention in beginning.

When asked, he said none of his problem.

I have nothing to be ashamed. I am not going to block this thread.

I can say a lot more but there is no point.

What kind of damage ? Could it have happened during shipping ???

You obviously haven't bought anything from Trade-ex. Go on their website, and see what you can buy for $300!

I have bought over a dozen rifles from them, and I have never paid $300 yet. This includes military and sporting rifles. I find that the description Trade-Ex gives is actually understated. If it says very good, most of the other dealers would give it an excellent or like new.

These other dealers could take lessons from Trade-ex.

Not shipping, he wrapped it pretty good.
Like I said it was mishandled. With white paint marking on the bottom of the stock. Also handgurd had about 1/2 of inch dent. From my own experience I would say rifle fell down.
