Bushnell scopechief 6 3-9x40
As new
What’s it worth?

It looks like the stock has been refinished at some point. The rifle alone is probably $550-600 based on the price I see them selling for on the EE if the bluing is as good as it looks. No clue about the scope, the old Scopechief's don't tend to hold much value nowadays.

Really nice setup.

Thanks rkm
This gun doesn’t look like its shot a box of shells so I’m not sure why it was refinished. But I haven’t seen enough BBRs to know if there were factory variations to the usual high gloss finish.
Thanks again

Often the factory high gloss finish would be 'dulled' of even refinished by an owner. The factory stock reflected light like a mirror when you were walking a slash...

The BBR is an excellent rifle but heavy which is a good thing for a big magnum. Someone wanting a 300 Magnum for a hunting rifle couldn't go wrong with this... $600 to $700 certainly would be fair.

I was hoping Dennis would reply.
We were in the same ball park between &600 and $700.
Over 30 years ago it was my intention to build a 338 Win Mag on that action and two rifles I looked at were a 264 Win Mag and 7mm Rem. Mag.
Prices were in the $700 range and both looked like they may have suffered the wrath of being use to tamp posts.

Thanks for your replies. It's a beautiful gun for the money that's being discussed here. Heavy yes, but i agree that that's not always a bad thing.

Your right, it's a very nice rifle for the money mentioned. That action is similar to a weatherby mk 5, 9 lug bolt. 600-700 when compared to a ruger american or a savage axis isn't much. In my eyes it's worth a lot more.

I bought one a few months ago from the EE in 7mm Rem Mag and I'm a fan. The weight makes it a pussycat to shoot, and it seems to shoot well with the factory ammo I've fed it. From the 9 lug bolt to the Monte Carlo stock, everything about them says quality in my opinion. I feel they represent a great value if you don't count yourself among those who need a 6 pound rifle.

I sont think any of us here will disagree with you.

But what something may be worth and what it sells for can be very different

Right in the ball park....Abolts daddy...or bustard child of Mark V. The issue is a tendency to stock split in the pistol grip through the safety.

I've never owned a BBR, but vaguely recall that there was a problem with splitting on these. I'd get it bedded before any problems arise.

Shooting with loose screws is not good for stocks. Probably just need to make sure the screws are tight... but it never hurts to have the action properly bedded...
