Curious about why PAL cards have an expiration date if we are required to verify licenses using the number before ftf purchase anyway.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Thanks

Update pic and personal info.

Loss of Job, divorce, criminal activity, depression etc etc.

Looking for any life events that could be a "trigger" to violence.

ID card always expires to ensure that holder still exists and the information associated are up to date, and also to ensure if an ID card disappears and leaves the holder it can only be unaccounted for a limited period of time.

Theoretically in a fully functional system ID card should be automatically revoked if certain conditions are met, but in reality there are many systems and they are not integrated. This defaults back to manual check periodically - ID expiration forces that manual process. This may mean that a human logs into 2 or 3 systems to look for a warning messages popping up, and press another button into a different system for the card to approve.

Have to agree with GT. Like our Provincial health card, every 5 years you need to renew, there is no cost, and you get the same #. Though you still will be seen with a expired card.

So to make sure personal information is correct, emergency contacts, marital status, if you're alive,
