My DAD has an old grizzly single shot that he loves to shoot however he is getting a few light strikes. another club member suggested getting some ammo with a thicker rim. right now he is using the federal white box ammo that was on sale last fall. hard to get parts for this old gun and it is his favourite turkey shoot gun.

THANKS STEVE

That's what the other club member thought that CCI had a thicker rim.my DAD has had this gun a very long time, very rough when he got it and stock was screwed so he cleaned up barrel and action and put it in a COOEY stock. the gun is stupid accurate for what it is, in the past he has shot some offhand nickel sized groups with it at 25 yards. (he has always been a good offhand shooter) if you seen it at a gunshow you probably wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it. LOL

Ammunition isn’t going to solve light strikes, there’s something else at play here. Maybe the springs are weak or the firing doesn’t have enough protrusion.

The rim thickness is part of the saami spec so it should all be within a few fractions of a mm. My Winchester M22 varies from 1mm to 1.17mm but most is either 1.05mm or 1.09mm. Maybe try measuring a few match ammunitions to see if there's one that is thicker.
