What 30-06 to use in re-barrelled K98

I have a K98 re-barrelled in 30-06.
I have been advised to use M1 Garand ammo. Is that recommended or will a K98 handle modern commercial ammo?

A 98 will handle pressure better then most civy rifle's. There's a reason they made more then 100 million

Who rebarrelled it? Proper job?
If the magazine has not been altered, there may be some '06 rounds too long to fit the magazine.
Otherwise, no problem.
