i have the bergara hmr wilderness and its a tank , but i cant carry it around all day .forget the sako s20 the stock sucks ,sounds hollow and looks cheap. looking to spend under 3k and must be synthetic and as weatherproof as possible.any suggestions ? i dont have time for a build.

I own a 6.5 PRC in the savage UL with the proof barrel. It comes in a shade over 6 pounds. Mine shoots both Hornady loads under 1 inch 3 shot at 100yards. My hand loads do 3/4 inch.

Yes it’s a Savage but the action is trued, and really nicely done. I have the gray stock but the new camo is really slick. The new style stock is really nice with the spacers and cheek pieces. It does use the thicker thread base screws but you can get the Talley lightweight one piece mounts for it still.

They go on sale quite often for around $15-1600. Put a lightweight Leupold or Swarovski on it and you are ready to roll. I am going to move a Zeiss V4 4-16 onto mine this weekend. I will add a few ounces but the glass is wonderful.

You can have it set up with great glass for $3000 all in!

If Kimber did the 6.5 prc it would go in the 8400 size action like other short magnums. The 84L montana is a great suggestion.

I have a 8400 montana 7wsm :) and an 84L 270. I prefer the 84L, it's also a lb lighter but mine is also a mountain ascent. Either way they're both great rifles. If I ever rebarrel my wsm I would probably go with the prc cartridge.

Sometimes the x-bolt pro can be found for a few hundred off.
Carbon fibre stock
Stainless barrel and action
Bedded
Lapped barrel
Fully cerakoted
Fluted barrel and braked

Just over 6lbs. Mine and my coworkers both shoot the sako 140gr factory ammo 1/2 moa at 100.

The othwr extreme is the mossberg patriot...$600...but not sure of the accuracy. Im sure its fine.

LOVE the montana, its just so standard. simplistic beauty.

The Browning and Tikka options are solid. You can also get a different model Bergara B-14 if you love the HMR, they make plenty that are a fair bit lighter.
