What a 5 day trip to the interior WOW

Sitting down on a critter is better than sittin in the dirt and having a libation before the main work begins is tradition with us.
The definition of a libation is as follows A libation is a ritual pouring of a liquid as an offering to a god or spirit or in memory of those who have died.We therefore pour a particular liquid into a glass, mug whatever and consume it.

2 guys 5 days ,1600 kms, 3 white Tail Deer , 1 - 800lb Cow Elk -Memories Priceless

There...and congrats on a great hunt.

I shot this on Sunday at 11;30 AM on the last morning of the hunt (had to be to work on Monday morning)-finished skinning and gutting etc. by 2:00 and had an 9hr drive back to try and catch a 2 hr ferry to get home and the butcher opens up when I arrive so it goes straight into the cooler. So you Get its hat and coat off right away ,swing it around dump the guts swing it back wipe it down ,load it into the truck and head for home,When it is above 8 degree's maybe 10 degree's you dont have time to wait and as soon as you dump the guts the flies start swarming. On the way home I get into some high elevation and snow so it cools pretty quick.May seem strange but it works

I can certainly understand the aversion to flies but the paunch are what holds a great deal of the heat inside the carcass, so dumping it quick helps to cool the meat immediately. IMHO, anyway.
