Just wanted to thank DMAY for giving me and my Savage BA 110 338 Lapua a chance to stretch its legs yesterday. So far I have only shoot this gun out to just under 500 yards so I went in to this not knowing what to expect. Well we started at 550 Yards which I was suprised we were hitting due to the high winds which were gusting past 35kph. Then we worked our way out to 750 yards and then finaly to over a 1000 yards, right around 1053 actually. :) Both his 7mm and my 338 Lapua shoot very well in the very windy conditions and both of us hit sub MOA gongs at that distance. I can't believe I actually shoot something the size of my hand in the wind at over a 1000 yards. Wow what an awseome experience thanks again Darrel :)

Heres a pic from our shooting area to the 1050 yard gongs they are beside the white big plate of steel at the top of the hill :)

Here is a pic of the smallest gong I hit on the day :)

welcome to the start of long range.

so that little gong there, how big is it? and is that what you shot at 1000?

say good bye to anything under 600. will feel like a waste of ammo. esp when you start streching out to 1500y.

Didn't have a tape but probably around 8-9" dia and yes that was one of the gongs out at 1050 yards I hit :) Darrel already told me to buck up for 1700 yards next time

Nice stuff.

Were you guys using any kind of devices for ballistics or wind reading?

I was using Isnipe and the wind was so gusty and strong and the area so hilly I used my wind meter where we were shooting but thats it. It was very unfaverable wind conditions for sure.

What kind of glass are you guys using to get out there and do you use it at full power or is mirage a bit of a factor?
Thanks

I was using my new Sightron 8x32x56 MOA scope, and I like to shoot at farily high power. That day was cool and windy so very little if any mirage, but on a hot sunny day it would def be a factor.

Ok thanks for the info

man, you guys out west make me jealous with all the great LR shooting spots.
I have been scouting out all the public land around me here in Ontario and all I can find is bush, bush, swamp, and more bush.. not hilly enough to shoot from one hill into another.
If anybody can let me in on a spot within an hr of Barrie I would be grateful!
