What a used 270 Speer from a 9.3X62 looks like.

Why not?

Last Monday evening. Moose was quartering away at 80 yards. Hit back of rib cage going in, breaking rib, through both lungs, broke two ribs on far side, bullet recovered under hide.

Again, so much for these being too soft for big game. :D

gotta love that. Reminds me of the Speer 350 gr MagTip for 416" - tough soft points designed for a particular velocity..they work well

Exactly! The muzzle velocity was bit under 2600 fps, and the bullet construction is designed for such!

This is the third animal that I have personal experience with using this bullet, and all three were perfect, two moose and one big bear.

The old Norma 286 gr works the same, bullet construction matched to velocity.

Tod made the point, at the right velocity they are great bullets. I used to shoot them from my 30-06 and they worked great on deer, in my 300 not quite as well.
