Hey all.

Had a rifle problem, today. Bought a Ruger K77/17VM2BBZ, in 17 Mach II. It was a spur of the moment purchase.........

Shoulda asked first, but oh well.

Thats the one. Put a Bushnell Banner 4-12X40 on it. A dusk and dawn model. Had the barrel free floated and trigger adjusted to about 1.5 lbs.

Gonna go to the range on Sunday and see if I shoulda waited for a 17HMR.

What do you guys think of the Mach II? Found one thread that really didn't inspire me :(

you wont like me for saying this, but IMHO the mach 2 is lame,

whats the point? the .22 LR has the same range, maybe a little less, but when the mk2 is far out, its such a light bullet and its lost a lot of its speed, the HMR i like, because its still got a lot of the balls, with a flatter trajectory.

If i had a .22 mag id only use that, because high speed + more weight

but hell, if you find you like it then its ok, it should be easier on pelts

I like the .22 MRF better. The .17's might be ok if you use them on a calm day, or for furs. But of all the rimfire's I think the best is the .22LR. because ammo is so much cheaper and the other's have a grossly inflated price tag. Then after that I'd move up to a .223 and use surplus ammo or reload.

Had one for a short time--was wicked accurate out to 125 yards or so--was not useing it much so I sold it. I think it is an under-rated round--would have took off a lot better if the HMR has not been released first.

regardles of the negative feedback you will hear (it's usually from hearsay ) any one with experience will tell you that it's vastly underated! I have had both HMR & M-2 in identical CZ 452 Americans & the M-2 would stand right along with the HMR to 120 yds, I now have the M-2, sold the HMR & bought a BRNO 17 PeeWee.
I don't think you'll be disapointed , a 22 LR comes no where near the performance unless at 50 yds & then it will require nammo that is in line price wise with the M-2:D
