What about Red Dots

Any experience with red dot sights. I'm going to be doing most of my shooting under 20yds, but the open sights on my qb57 seem hard to focus on. I was figuring that for snap shooting a reflex red dot would be the way to go. How much would I need to spend to get a decent one. Are they durable, are they accurate up to 40 yds, any other points of view or experience would be welcome.

Diana with a dot

A friend I hunt deer with has a .177 Diana pellet gun he has set up with a red dot. It has been a blast having it behind the seat for the occasional grouse. All have been short distance head shots, and for those it's GREAT!

Do you remember what type or make it is, how long has he had it. I am most curious about the open face style if anyone has had or used one.
