I'll give you a hint:

I've got my batteries charging, and everything cased. A 1000 rounds of ammo, just in case and am just about to clean and oil my little rifle. The car is gassed up and my notebook is ready to go. I'm going to head to a familier area, provided there isn't too much snow and talk to new landowners in hopes of finding some new spots to shoot. It's been a long Winter and man am I ready to take a walk. :)

It's a stupid safety course that gun clubs have, you have to take it before they send in an LTATT request to the CFO.

Some say that the CFO demands the clubs make you take the course, who knows for sure.

I do know that the CFO will not even look at an LTATT request from an individual, it must come from a club permit secretary.

It seems the CFO makes up rules as they go along and everyone follows them or you just get buried in their system and never get what you want.

Has anybody ever actually just tried contacting the CFO himself? It seems like a lot of nonsense to go through this guy or that. I needed my ATT so I called the CFC. I asked to speak to my province and requested my ATT. I also requested they make it good for any range in Alberta, they did that to, and it was faxed in not too long after our conversation. Things can't be that different from the same people in a Province a little to my right. Sounds to me like everyone is just taking what these 'clubs' say like it's right from the Bible and these 'courses' are probably making them plenty of extra money.

Back in the day : the usual wording on the bulk of Ontario ATT's was for transport
" to and from [ a, or any ] range approved by the Attorney General " ... I suppose this may be the CFO for the Provinces' way of ensuring you are a paid-up imember of a legitimate and "approved" handgun range - about the only way you're going to get an ATT in this tight-a**ed part of the world today !!!

Last I heard, the local Club was not charging a "fee" for this "extra" level of training - or as they likely look at it ... " a little more assurance that this guy actually knows what the hell he's doing and doesn't appear to be a liability".

Beleive it. its true for Ont.
I was CRO of my club for several years, had to re-take instructors course
4 or 5 years back to be updated in new club level safety course, that any new club members must be given to be able to get an ATT.
We didn't charge anymore for this course, other than the $10. first time members fee to cover bullets, targets and photo coping.
No one can contact CFO directly for a club ATT.
They can apply directly for short term ones though.
The material we cover is the same thing covered in the CFSC,
but it also includes club and local area rules.
Rules we have no choice in to follow.

The rules have no roots in law, the clubs just blindly follow along with whatever the CFO is in the mood for.

Even the famous EESA that a mod on this site is a high profile member of has done nothing.

I guess it's easier to battle nit wits on city council than battle a real opponent.

Has the CSSA , NFA, CFI done anything about the CFO making up policy ?

They have seemingly done nothing.

Yes, before the bashing begins, I did try on my own and got no place.

The gov. employees seem to be accountable to no one.
