What AR comes close to this Achievement?? HK416

I never understood the purpose of tests in utterly pointless environments. Yes, this gun shoots underwater, but unless you're 007 what's the likelihood you'll find yourself in an underwater gunfight?

That being said, find me a pool I can shoot my AR's in and I'll give it a go.

Yup ... and how far can the bullet go under water?

Ok, gonna have to find a lake and try that with my MR556. Wonder how I'm going to talk the CFO into an att....

I'm 100% kidding, of course, but I honestly wonder if the MR556 would be able to do this - how much difference is there between the 416 and the civvy versions?

(... and what AR comes close to this achievement? Why, an AK, of course! ;) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cp5gdUHFGIQ. )

Unless it’s OTB it’ll explode on you or cause some form of damage.

The MR223/556 aren’t so I wouldn’t advise trying it.

The 416 in OTB were made specifically for meritime operations they have channels in everything (bolt carrier for example) to let water move through.

Just my limited reading into it.

I wouldn’t put my 416 through it as what’s the point.

Having said that life/death situation. Stick the muzzle into the target and pull the trigger and turn away.

Might blow up your gun, but if it saves your life...

Apparently lionfish hunting with a glock is a thing. This would be better than a Glock.

It was tried on an early MR223, and it worked fine. That being stated I wouldn't do that regardless unless i had too. HK makes water born specific OTB 416 as well, some that are tailored made for stuff like this, the new A5 has all these features but unless HK has certified for this need in particular I would not risk this. In other words don't do this.

Shark defence Wed! Interesting video but shooting underwater has no practical purpose. Explosive and harpoon work better!

The CFO will never approve an underwater range. Is the pool deemed a suppressor and therefore prohibited

The purpose of the test is to show that even hydraulic shock does not break any parts of firearm. Hydraulic shock in a fully submerged firearm is a very significant force applied to parts which usually might get a tiny fraction of the forces.

They are not proving that you can shoot under water, they show how strong the parts are and how robust the gas system is. How good and reliable mechanical function is with water slowing down all moving parts. How big tolerances are for changing conditions all inside the gun everywhere from springs in a hammer to extractor and hand guards being hit by mass of water from, everything, all at once.

And, by the way, this is a big deal too:
