What AR15 spare parts do you keep on hand?

As I'm relatively new to actually owning (rather than shooting) AR's I was wondering what parts break and it's prudent to keep extras on hand. From experience with other, similar looking pins in various mechanical devices, the firing pin retaining pin seems like something that would need regular replacement? Any other parts?

What's the best source for this stuff?

In my range bag I keep an extractor, firing pin, firing pin retaining pin, extraction spring, hammer spring, trigger spring, disconnect or spring and an ejector spring. Lots more bits at home, including spare bolts and BCGs.

Mine is a pre-ITAR kit from Brownell's, though bits and pieces have been replaced as they're used.

Ctcsupplies.ca are great to deal with, though they show out of stock now. Let Phil know and he'll order one in!

I keep a spare bolt, firing pin, retaining pin, extractor spring and gas ring in the range bag. Might have to look into a hammer and trigger spring since they're pretty cheap anyway.

My range bag has these parts
Bolt
Gas rings
Extractor
Firing pins
Fp retaining pin
Bolt cam
And all the springs/detents to rebuild a lower.
Then punches, armorers wrench and m16 field guide
Only thing I don't think I have is a spare bolt catch.

STUFF IS COMING BACK IN STOCK!

Stuff is trickling back in since SHOT Show. Lots of AR Lower Parts Kit, spare parts, repair kits, spring kits, pin kits, etc etc.

Most common parts are:

Gas rings
Extractor
Extractor spring
Firing pin
Cam pin
Firing pin retaining pin

Personally I keep almost enough parts to build another AR lol

I have most spare parts I would ever need, plus a spare parts kit I got from Brownells for around $20.

The only thing I've ever needed which I keep in my range bag now is a long allen key for tightening the grip screw.....it can be unnerving when that comes loose during a match.

I've always wondered why guys are concerned about spare parts for their AR's. I was in the military for 22 years of which 13 were in the infantry so I fired AR's a fair bit. In that entire time I neither had any part break on me nor did I hear of anyone else around me having a rifle fail due to broken parts. So the question is, are the Diemaco rifles just that well made or are guys just keeping spares on hand just in case? And I can assure you that those issue rifles were not pampered at all. They were dry fired ALL the time on top of actual shooting.

For me it's more about the convenience. I've never had to replace a broke part on the range other than a extractor that was giving me issues and having the part on the spot let me diagnose that as the problem.

Secondly having all these spares on hand is nice since I don't have to find that part in stock order it and wait a week or more for it to get to me, my rifle is up and running right away. Plus have you never had a spring out detent fly away to be eaten by the carpet monster? It happens and I can replace it right then.

Complete bolt.
Firing pin retaining pin.
The first item is obvious, the second is because those things are very easy to lose doing a field strip.

IMO there are few if any rifles that are as tough as a Diemaco. I broke a stock once in cold weather on a C-7, but never broke an internal part, although two guys in my infantry course lost the firing pin retainer.
