Looking to get one, preferably a 9mm commander but won't really care too much if the price is right. I don't want a Norinco or anything Chinese. What are the latest offerings? I've been out of the loop...

Phillipines? RIA or SAM. Frontier has the SAM models. I don't know of a source in Canada for the RIA ones.

Pay a little more and get a Phillipines/US hybrid in the form of the STI Spartan. The two .45 Spartans I've got to shoot were VERY nice. Tight groups and great trigger. I don't see any reason for their 9mm to be any different.

But the Spartan is a full length. For a Commander you'll need to dump $1300 into an STI Ranger II.

Thank you for not wanting to sell out your country and buy chinese!

Yeah!

Now sell out your country and buy filipino!

The next cheapest options are all from the Philippines as far as I know. I would take a Norinco over an SAM etc, personally.

For a US built 9mm 1911...I would think the Trojan is probably the cheapest.

I am not particularly knowledgeable about the STI lineup...is the Ranger a commander length? They may do that in 9mm.

Too bad your country sold itself out a long time ago when they borrowed money from china and put it's citizens forever in the debt of the chinese. Somewhere around 1.2 trillion dollars of US debt is owned by china. The whole of american citizens owns less US debt than that.
You're loyal to a flag that sold you out before you were born.

Commander-length 1911 in 9mm?

SAM is the only one I'm aware of building a commander-length 9mm for reasonable cost if you're okay with Philippines manufacture. Otherwise, STI has a new Spartan 4.0 (actually 4.26" for Canada) that is available in 9mm if you're okay with a bushingless barrel (less traditional) - also from the Philippines but made with some STI parts and inspected by STI QC before shipping.

shooterschoice.ca has a couple of guns that fit your description.

They have a Para-Ordinance 4.2" 9mm for $945, and a 4.2" 9mm STI Ranger for $1135.

Both are made in USA I think.

I agree with this dude.

Taurus is another option. Their 1911s are made completely in-house in Brazil.
Good Options and value for the money.
