What are the requirments to get gun licence in ontario

from the Policy/Legislation section under highlights...

All licence applicants must pass a public-safety check. A computer link between the Canadian Firearms Information System (CFIS) and the national police database helps to speed up the process and allows for continuous checks of licence holders. As part of the background check, spouses and common-law partners with whom a PAL applicant has lived within the previous two years may be notified of the application to find out if they have any concerns about their own or someone else's safety.

They might say yes, they might say no. You require two references on your application and you will be background checked by the RCMP.

You can apply after you've passed the applicable safety courses.

i was charged with assault nothing firearm related.....i just have no idea how to even start the orcess to check if i ass the backgrond check i read what the site said but can't find any forms

you should be ok if it was 5 years ago, a x friend of mine did time for armed robbery and still got his licence in the 80's, and i have had to deal with the police 3 times in my life, and once ended up in court, and had a peice bond and still ended up keeping my gun licence and later went and got restricted. but watch out if there is an x wife or girlfriend around.

bad question was the assult against the girlfriend, that will always be an issue with the courts, lots of gun owners are refused their rtenewal gun licences when there is an x wife or girlfriend around, and its less than two years the break up. like i said a x friend of mine did time for armed robbery, and still got his licence, all you can do is apply, have you tried prodon services?
