What are the suitable bullets to use in 8mm mauser?

All of my K98's like either the 150 or 195 grain Hornady bullets. They are cheap and accurate too.

If you are shooting a K98, the WW2 German round was a 195 grain spitzer running around 2500fps. With the 195gr Hornady bullet, you can replicate it. Any of the bullet weights available now would be suitable though, your decision would be dependent on what you are going to use it for (ie hunting) and/or what your individual rifle likes the best.

Heavy bullets 195s, 220 or if you are able to find em 240s. load light bullets and they shed velocity too quick and don't penetrate to the rifles potential.
Always load as heavy a bullet as your rifle will shoot. Want a lighter faster bullet drop down in cal.

"...Original 1888 load called for a 227..." That used a .318" bullet. They're not interchangeable with 'modern' 8mm Mausers.
"...the big mailorder outfits carry..." So should any gun shop. Assuming you have a K98, you want .323" bullets.
