What are these "problems" with CZ Pistols?

I would like to know about the problems with CZ pistols.
I was under the impression they were well-made and reliable.

(If this has been covered before, it will give the experts a chance
to argue again.) :)

PM Bartledan or Omen, they both used the CZ for competition and gave up!

1. slide stop breaking
2. trigger spring breaking
3. bad mags (cure is to get the US SP01 mags)
4. Extraction problems
5. Reliability (PM omen)

.......do a search if you can.

I haven't shoot enough to have problems, But some people do have their slide stop broken, some have a weak spring and replaced with wolff spring. I am fairly lucky not have problem like that. but if you do research on other brand name, they do have their own problems.

Well I will give you my impression. CZ85. Have used over the counter 9mm factory loads and Wolff 9mm reloads. I have never had a misfire, or an extraction problem. The only problem I've encountered is that certain ProMags don't fit.

Hehe, I feel like a traitor, since I just picked up my new SP01Tactical only 2 days ago...

Ok, I shot my 85Combat for about 2 years in competition. During the time I've had some various misc issues.

a) slide stops breaking - this is a symptom of not paying attention to your recoil spring. If you let it get too weak, compared to the loads you're shooting, it WILL break/sear-off eventually. if the ejected casings are landing more than 6' away, your spring is too weak for your loads.

b) extraction problems - I've had some of those, enough to be seriously annoying for competition problems

c) double feeds - mag lips too wide

d) mags not dropping free - what would happen would be while pushing the next round into the chamber, the second-from-top round would get pushed forward a bit. If I tried to drop the mag then, the bullet of that round would catch the inside of the mag well and the mag wouldn't drop free. This was one problem I was never, ever, able to correct with CZ mags. changing the width of the lips, weaker springs, strong springs, etc - none of that made any difference.

I finally gave up on it when one of my new guest shooters was using it, and she was getting an average of 1.5 jams per stage.

I'm currently trying the SP01, we'll see. With that gun on the market, I'd suggest not going for any of the old line, get it. The recoil characteristics are much, much better than any of the original 75/85 CZs.

There are SOME issues with triggers, but the person who handles warranty work for CZ knows all about them, so you might have some problems with a brand new gun, but it will get fixed without any problems. So it might be a little annoying having to ship it to him, but beyond that, it's fine.

I did hear that some people were getting trigger spring breaks, but I haven't shot mine enough to see any of that.

I'm using Tanfoglio mags exclusively, the factory 10 round CZ mags are CRAP! I think (I'll check, haven't yet) that you can use baby eagle mags too, and I like those too, but they are twice as expensive as the tanfoglios).

I had a trigger spring break a while ago with an SP01.

Angus sent me one and havent had a problem since.

Don't know about the slide stops breaking - Havent had any problems with mine yet with about 10 k threw it.

The only other problem with it has been some people asking whats your load? why isnt your muzzle rising at all? Is this stock is that legal? SP01's just atract attention.

sheesh, how many 9mms do you have now?

There are lemons, but for the most part CZ's are very reliable, accurate handguns.
I love my CZ75B. It's a much better value then anything out there.
I am closing in on 15000 rounds, many +P loads.
Not a single hickup. Slide stop didn't break. THe only thing I did was change the spring when shooting +P loads. Nothing else.
A few guys in my club own CZ's. No one has had ANY problems with them.
Keep the rails well oiled and clean it from time to time.

The only problem that I have encountered with my CZ-85C in around 5K rounds, is with the rear sight - which is an LPA unit. One of the tiny roll pins in the "hinge" of the elevation adjustment sheared off. I replaced it with another .060" roll pin, and it's good to go.

My buddy's CZ 75 pre B broke a slide stop a few weeks ago during practice. It probably had 20-30k rounds through it then. Other than that, no problems.

Just don't dry fire w/o a snap cap and keep the springs oiled.

hmmm..... not that many, I have a very high turn over rate of guns, as soon as I stop using something, it's sold or donated to hart house. So if anyone is thinking about targetting me for stealing an "arsenal", you'll be greatly disappointed ;)

Ohhh, also, the SP01 (at least mine) is FREAKISHLY accurate; 10 shots at a B zone plate target at 50m, and 9 hits and 1 near miss. Same ammo, same target, same distance with the Tanfoglio L, I get 4 hits, 6 misses.

BUT, something I just started to feel the next day - it seems to be much more punishing on my weak/left wrist. I've never had any wrist pain from shooting before (had some RSI sometime ago, so I'm always looking out for that), until I shot that SP01.. Donno...

sorry, I don't know what make it is. It came from boyd autobody here in Selkirk. In a genertic bottle, marked as "pencil touch up paint", was matched to the lil lady's Kio Rio.

Do you think I would own a CZ75, CZ75B, CZ75 Compact, CZ PCR, CZ 75 Rami, and a CZ40B if the line were crap? If so, you know something about me that I do not know. CZ are great guns and so are the Tanfoglio clones. Regards, Richard:D
