What is a complete DP Pattern 14 rifle stock set worth? Like the stock in this picture.

I believe that piece was deactivated.
Either way she is very nice to look at...

The Brits are selling deact .303's for $500

Since it's a DP stock, and has the cut out just in front of the action, it won't be worth as much as you think. IMHO if it's in good shape, complete, maybe $100 to $150, but then again, if you find someone that's really wanting one, well then....

I spent a good amount of time "restoring" Enfields a couple of years back, and at the time it was fun. But I soon realized, after all your work, time and money, no matter how good it looked in the end, it was still just a parts gun, and no more.....

I have four P14 Drill Purpose (DP) stock sets, all restored or in the process of restoration. I'd say the stock set is worth about $50, but only to someone who wants it for a shooter for say Milshoots, as a restored DP stock does not belong on a collectible IMHO. A complete DP rifle would be a $100-150 piece by virtue of its collectibility to some people and the value of its parts - again IMHO.

To restore, the stock requires two pieces to be inserted, the rear handguard needs to be replaced, and the front handguard can be re-used (as it was untouched). The barrel bands are all stamped "DP".

Rear handguards are very scarce and fetch an easy $25, usually more. If you want to replace the bands that can easily add up to $25, but why bother if the stock is obviously a restored DP? All said, I'd say you're looking at about $100 for a restored DP stock with all the fittings.

I would just keep it and look for another one. If the gun was a DP leave it that way and look for another one.
The stocks aren't going to be repaired easily, and as another member stated it will only be a parts gun.

If you are going to try to use one of these to save a bubba, you will have to deal with the semicircular notches cut for the pin. Rather than try to do "disappearing" patches, I have fitted repairs the way an armourer would do them - neatly fitted, dovetailed, doweled if you choose, without much of an effort to match colour or grain. We have all seen these repairs. Incidentally, every one of these rifles I've seen had a pristine bore before the Indians drilled them.

Before Dad volunteered for the RAF in WWII he served in the local "Home Guard" they were equipped with a real assortment of arms including almost identical arms in different calibers. For example they had P14 rifles in .303 beside P17 rifles in .30-06 (Dad always refferred to the .30-06 as "US .300") and Lewis guns in both .303 and .30-06. I remember Dad saying that all .30-06 arms were given a red stripe for easy identification from .303.

The rifle stock in the first picture shows that red stripe for caliber .30-06. A white stripe was used for DP so she must of had an interesting past.

I don't know what it's worth, but with the number of folks restoring them an original DP model may end up being scarce. I'd leave it as is and build on something else or a second DP if you can get one.

those DP rifles used to sell for $15 each. Some of them were in unissued condition and were just plain beautiful. We used to pull the bbls and clean up the actions to make up some really nice sporters.
A lot of those stocks were burned quite badly when the pins were welded into the chambers and were useless for anything other than than their DP purpose. A lot of them were actually rejected rifles because of some defect.
Most were brand new rifles that were out of date and discarded.
The fireing pins were usually ground off as well.
There was usually enough bble left to make up a 94 Win bbl or some other low pressure stuff. The action stripped is worth $50 - $100 if all of the numbers match. bearhunter

Hey! I need a stock set.

I have a bubba P14, that just needs wood, and the bands/bayonet lug thingy to hold it together.

This is my hunting/shooting rifle so it doesn't have to be matching as the rifle sure isn't, and I'll be staining the wood anyway. Someone PM me if they have such a thing for a reasonable price. :D
