Bought one November past and fed it a box of Blaser bulk pack 525 with only two FTE's.

Then I bought a box of Winchester white box bulk pack and Remington Thunderbolt bulk pack and neither of them will extract. FTE every other shot. I need to find a box of Blaser to confirm its ammo and not an issue with the gun.

Anyone having success with another brand?

The experience of owners of this gun varies a lot. Some find them to work flawlessly, others have a lot of problems. I think it's often the gun rather than the ammo that is at fault.

Mine delivered a lot of failures to feed and to extract regardless of the ammunition. I had it sent back to Smith for service, but have not yet had a chance to try it out. They definitely replaced the recoil spring, which was known to be the source of some problems. I don't know what else, if anything, the factory did.

When I get a chance to run a few mags through the upgraded gun I'll post results.

I got mine right when they were first sold last spring. So far I've used some Blazer(box and bulk) Federal Champion, CCI standard and stinger. All without any problems.

I find I have to oil up the rails the bolt rides on a fair bit(more than I would think is necessary) or else sometimes it doesn't hold open on the last shot. It's like there's too much friction for it to open all the way to lock open.

Also I put in one of those reduced power spring kits, it made a nice difference to the trigger :)

I got mine last spring too. some suggestions:

1 - clean your gun (from out of the box)
2 - oil your extractor
3 - oil your bolt carrier
4 - make sure you don't hold your magazine loader when you are firing.

for ammo:

federal bulk ammo - which was ok. i had a fte rate of 3-5%
remington (something) - stay away from those
cci blazers - seems to work pretty well. out of the brick of 500 last time, i only had one ftf..
Never tried winchester.

You need 40g or more for it to cycle (in my experience). i only use cci blazers now.

Ive had mind since July and it loves blazer and american eagle round nose. hollow points ive had a few issues with. But it may have to do with how the magazine stacks up the rounds need to ##### cross each in the stack.

An update: I finally got around to trying my factory refurbished 1522 today. It now seems to work perfectly, so the problems were definitely with the gun and not the ammo.

The only drawback is the 10 rnd magazines. They don't have a follower button and so are much harder to load (not to mention less fun) than the original 25s. The first five cartridges go in easily, but the next five require a lot of pressure to push down. Eventually I discovered that by sticking the shaft of a small screwdriver through the loop at the bottom of the plastic follower I could ease the spring down as I inserted cartridges. This eliminated the loading difficulty but is rather a kludge. It might be possible to add some kind of button and dispense with the screwdriver.

Anyway, if you're having a lot of failures to fire or eject you might want to have the gun looked at, especially if it is still under warranty.

Update this finially. Bought a new spring and extractor since i didnt want to wait for the gun to go to be serviced and it works 100% after the fix. No problems whatsoever with whatever ammo its fed.
