I'm thinking I will try out Barnes 150gr TSX, and see if I can track down some 215gr Woodleighs. Also probably shoot a bunch of Hornadys at the range.:)

mine will see 150gr TSX for the majority of hunting. But I'd like to see what a 215gr Woodleigh does too

now - how fast can a guy expect to push a 150gr in a strong action 303? is 2850 fps out of the question with RL15 or Varget, RL17, H4350 etc?

If I had one, it would see an awful lot of 205gr. hardcast gas check bullets at all speed and pressure levels!

Quite a while back I picked up a 'quantity' of 215gr Woodleigh from Corlanes in Dawson Creek. They work well in a pair of Jungle Carbines I have using IMR 4350.

I'd start the 205gr. at 1800fps and work up until I find the sweet spot for accuracy, could be at top speeds because barrel won't be worn like most .303s, and bore size will be a std. .311" and I'd size to .313", because it's a single shot you could seat the long bullets right into the rifling, everything is right!!!

maybe ill keep this big bag of 215 grain roundnose normas for when the rugers get here, should be able to sell em like hot cakes!

I've got 150 of the old CIL 215grain KKSP I've been saving for a special occasion...

Tradex stocks Woodleigh bullets, and Woodleigh makes a .312" 215 grain bullet for the .303British. Tradex doesn't list that one, but I expect they'll get some if enough of us ask for them.

By using a long drop tube or vibrating the case, you should be able to get enough 4350 in to drive 180's to 2650 fps. With 4064, 2700 fps is achievable. 150 grain bullets will get up to 2900 using 4064, Varget, or 748.
215's can be driven to nearly 2400 fps using 4350.
All in all, a very satisfactory rifle/cartridge combo. IMO, better than a WSM! Regards, Bill.
