The Searchers: Alan Brown Le May

Yes John Wayne made a movie of this one, the novel is quite a bit better.

Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter : Rinella, Steven

If you haven't read this, get it. Great stories and recipes.

I could type for another 7 hours to list all mine, so many out there.

What have you read that helped guide you in the out of doors and/or hunting?

I have the whole set off books by capstick that I have read a 100 times ,and right now my oldest daughter just got me Tracks Across Africa By BODDINGTON Dutch

currently reading John Wayne's autobiography
Mustang Man along with all the other Sackett books are great books in my mind
have read most of Capstick's books majority sitting on my shelf, love them all
One book I found interesting and insightful even though it is outdated is The Complete Book of Rifles and Shotguns by Jack O'Connor

Shelters, Shacks, and Shanties by D.C. Beard and Raw Spirit -in search of the perfect dram- by Iain Banks.
A book from 1914 about building well, shacks and shanties. Directed mainly at turn-of-the-century boys and a Whisky travel book set in Scotland that has a anti war slant, as it was written during the second gulf war.
Good books so far. I tend to have several books on the go.

I have devoured everything written by Capstick, plus everything he recommended from a half-dozen other authors.

Love Africana, but plenty of good books about other areas of our planet as well.

I would far sooner bury my face in a good book than watch the tube any day.

Regards, Dave.

Got a library full of J. O'Connor, B. Spiller, F. Woolner, M. McIntosh, N. Strung, G. Hill, G.B. Evans, C. Norris, G. MacQuarrie, N. Buckingham, H. Babcock, T. McGuane,
J. Gierach and too many others to list.

My most recent read was Prairie Birds ... Hunt, Cook, Celebrate by G. Tod Wright. My most recent re-read was Horns in the High Country by Andy Russell.

Halfway thru 'Ghosts of the Medak Pocket' by Carol Off and just started 'The Arms of Krupp' by Manchester.

Recently finished 'My War Gone By, I Miss It So' by Anthony Loyd. I usually have a couple books going at the same time.

Had started to reread 'Hunting Upland Gamebirds' by Smith but since I'm not... had to put it down. Too painful.

Also starting to brush up on 'Finding Wounded Deer' with Trout.
