What are your thoughts on the Advantage Arms .22 Glock 19?

I'm considering buying a plinker and I thought the Advantage Arms .22 kit with extended (non prohibited) 4.425" barrel might be cool. Any opinions?

Chris

I don't think anyone carries the Advantage arms kit for the Glock 19 in Canada. They carry it for the Glock 17 and the Glock 22. More than likely you would have to import it.

Police Ordanance told me they will not! bring in the G19 .22 conversion kits, with the extended barrels.
"Jo" said that they just don't sell, would be too costly, and would take too long to bring in.
I guess Questar is probably the only viable option.

Police Ordinanace

Yeah, Police ordinance went on to say that just getting the extended barrel kit is not enough to legalize the Glock 19, you have to get the gun re certified, etc. I'm going to do some more research.

Chris

P.S. Wolverine MAY have the kits in stock for other Glocks.

But what is weird that it is just a "kit", not a whole gun.
I am not sure what they have to get certified? Couldn't the manufacturer
just leave the shorter barrel out of the kit and put in the longer barrel instead?
Maybe I am not understanding you?

No you are right, you do not have a part registered or certified it is what it is, but I guess PO can't be bothered bringing in the kits for the G19? If you can get one in elseware minus the barrel PO does sell the extended barrel.

Like this one?

C*ck tease! Is that yours McNasty? If so, maybe you could enlighten
the rest of us as to where/how you got it?
How many 9mm rounds can you get for the cost of the kit and extended barrel and importing fees etc...?? Maybe it is not worth it.

Ahab.

LOL

Yes it's mine. Bought it off the board three, maybe four years ago. It hasn't been out of that drawer since I bought it. I guess I should try it out.

When I asked Jo Winkler the same question a few years back he checked with one of the armourers and said the conversion kit for the glock 17 works just fine on the 19. The slide is longer on the 17 kit so it overlaps the frame a bit, but functions normally.

McNasty I think you snapped that up while I was at work one day a few years back, it should have been mine! lol

Questar would probably import the kit with the extended barrel if you wanted the correct sized slide - and were willing to pay extra to get it.

If I was interested in purchasing a A/A 22lr kit for a G19 I would check out E-Bay or call a A/A dealer in the States and order it. I would then contact Clive Law @ 613-992-0478 and have him send me all appropriate paper work so that I can apply for a Canadian Import permit for the unit.

Once I have the Import permit (should take about 2 to 3 weeks) I send it to the US in order to obtain a US Export permit. When that permit arrives I travel down into the States pick up my purchase that has been delivered to my PO box. I come back to the Canadian border present my Import permit, pay my 13% (in BC) taxes and come home.

Remember our Canadian Customs does not require you to present your US Export permit. They couldn't care less if you have one, they just want to see your import permit and your 13% taxes....

No I am not suggesting that anyone break the Laws in the States by not obtaining a US Export permit I'm just letting people know that our side doesn't require to see it.
