The Rock Creek is mentioned as a fast one too...

The 2750fps+ wasn't from a hot load, this guy doesn't push anything past whats listed in the manuals.

I don't subscribe to hot loads either, accuracy is all that really matters to me.
I think any high quality barrel that is well lapped and tight cut may have an advantage in getting the most velocity from a caliber with good accuracy.
2750 plus is certainly good velocity from a 308, we were surprised at what we attained, enough in fact that we are now experimenting with 190 SMKs and 208 Amaxs out of 308s.

What king of chamber are you cutting? A lot of the guns that were shooting fast were using a modified Palma chamber.

Guys are shooting the 208s and 210 VLDs in 308 down here with great results. They drop a bit more than 155 Scenars, but are better in the wind. Between 2500 and 2550fps is pretty common. A few guys are pushing close to 2600fps with moly. N550 seems to be the powder of choice.

Edited: Just spoke to a buddy and he mentioned that the 208s seem to work better with 0.001" less neck tension than normal. A 0.337" vs. 0.336" bushing with Lapua brass (no moly). Oh, and they're loading them long: 2.900"-3.000".
