What barrels fit a Sportsman 58?

Anybody know if an 1100 barrel will fit a Sportsman 58? Will the gas ports match up? Does it matter if the ports don't match up as I will be shooting trap. I don't necessarily need a second shot?

No, 1100 barrels will not fit. 870 barrels work, but, you have to drill the gas port.

So, what happens if I put a 870 barrel on without drilling the gas ports? Will it shoot and not eject or will it break something? It should work fine as the gas just follows the wad out the barrel. Or am I wrong?

you can use a 878 bbl will fit directly on
