They're grooved on the outside like a Weaver but no slot as you can see.

Salty, do you have the rings that fit those bases too?

Looks like a QD setup, neat little tabs to keep the rings in place under recoil.

Are they steel?

No Noel, I don't have the rings. The rifle came from Sweden recently ;) so they could be something more common over there(?)- I've never seen the likes any way. Yes they are steel.

H4831 thanks for the idea. I looked at the Redfield website and these look different than the bases they picture there. Or maybe they're discontinued

I'm going to do project with this rifle, I'm well aware there's lots of other options but these bases look tough as nails and seem to have a cool factor. :D I'd like find out more and possibley hunt down the rings that go with...

They look like a custom setup to me, possibly a euro dovetail.

I was hoping you were going to finish that line with 'I've got a set of rings for it sitting right here" :( ;)

Well it looks to mee like they are milled a bit thinner than the usual weaver base, much like my BRNO rings. What is the width of the base where the rings would slide over?

Yes they are milled thinner than weaver style for sure..

Here's some measurements:

width of bases (outside of dovetail) front .620" rear .615" (probably a bit of wear on the rear?)

width of bases (inside of dovetail) .555" front and rear

length front 1.200" rear .795"

Just what I needed, another mystery.:runaway: This is getting interesting

I will check the width of my rings tonight. ### CAN get you some rings though! ;)

Salty, sorry to say my 21H dovetail is .768" at the widest point and .710" at the base of the dovetail groove.
All I could suggest is calling one of the ring manufacturers and see if they can direct you somewhere.

Weaver is making a Steel base now, similar to the old alluminum stand bys but they are blued. I believe SuperCub got some from ################ for his Browning 300H&H.
I hope you can find something before having to replace them.

Try posting them on the accurate reloading forum, there seems to be quite a few European members there who are very helpful.

Those are early Leupold bases. I cannot remember the model name, but the rings slide on from the rear and there are two levers that turn up to lock them in place once the bottom of the ring contacts the stud on the top of the base.

I had a set on a model 70 more than 30 years ago.

I think the name actually might have been, "Detacho". My memory just isn't what it used to be.

I will take a look, Salty, and see if I still have the rings here.

Leupold Detacho

I have a set of these Leupold Detcho-Mount rings that I bought in 1961. I took them off my .358 Norma Mag. when I sold it in 1962 - been gathering dust ever since.
