Hi!

I'm looking for a front and rear sight for My SL8. The original ones did not fit anymore with my Burris TAC30.

Magpul and Troy BUIS seem very good but are they are expensive. Before putting money on them I'm curious to know your opinion.

What is your BUIS choice???

Thank You!

I need folding sights. I want to clear my scope. I can buy a set of folding sight or Buy a new rail with low profile sight.

Are you anywhere near Vancouver?

I have Magpul BUIS. Like them. Don't know why they get flamed so often, but it is not like you are going to be taking incoming fire with them.

I like both Magpul and Troy. Troy are very solid, durable and high quality; Magpuls are definitely lighter, though - and much more forgiving when it comes to abuse.

Please qualify your statement that the Magpul sights are more forgiving when abused then the Troy sights ?

Well, they're primarily polymer - so they're somewhat more forgiving than metal when it comes to any kind of impact. And certainly with minor abuse like dings, scrapes and scratches they hold up a lot better. One nice feature of the new MBUS is that you can replace the front post with a tritium one now.

Ok you are talking esthetics versus real world use, thanks for explaining

Yeah, thought we were talking about BUIS for an SL8 - so I'm not sure to what extent the 'real world' use would be here (especially when the OP indicated he thought both the Magpul and Troys were expensive; or maybe it was more so the Troy).

I use both and I really like both. I have a set of folding Troy M4's on my HK because it's a CQB setup and I wanted something fairly permanent to complement the red dot (they're heavier, but very durable - and it's not like there's a huge weight savings when we're already talking HK).

I use the Magpul MBUS on my ACR and FS2000 because they're both mainly polymer anyway and I'm already running a 1-4x optic on both, so the degree of redundancy isn't necessarily as important.

Both great sights - can't really go wrong with either.

I have MI (Midwest Industries) on my Stag carbine (factory option) and really like them. They are metal like Troy but I believe they better priced. Arms East has them or can get them.
