Started reloading a couple months ago....still a newb, but learning lots, especially here on CGN
It helps to be an analytic, systematically working up loads looking for pressure, seating depths , etc. and its quite satisfying to make progress and see my groups tighten.
Now I've finally found an accurate hunting load I worked up for my T3 in .243, using Barnes TSX 85 gr with 43.3 gr of H4350, seated .060 off the lands.
....lookout Blacktails!!!

When the deer season is over I want to continue practicing, and experimenting w. different powders, but I'd prefer not use the more expensive TSX or premium bullets. Can anyone recommend a cheaper, but decently accurate .243 bullet to load up for practice? thanks

'match' bullets from Sierra are cheap compared to anything from Nosler or Barnes, and shoot paper very well. Just don't get silly and use them on game..

I always use Hornady bullets for my practice. Actually, I've used the AMAX bullets quite a bit in competition. They are phenomenally accurate and are way cheaper than the TripleShocks. Excellent bullets for paper punching.

I shoot mostly AMAX and VMAX bullets for practise (on paper and gopher :))

For bigger cartridges, I'll either practice with the same bullets that I'd hunt with, or pick one that's extremely similar. For my 338, for example, I'll shoot SST's for practice and Interbonds for hunting.

Plain old Remington corelocts or Winchester bulk bullets will also work fine, I've done some very good shooting with both.
If you are practising and not working up loads, shooting ohhjand and from the kneeling, etc., your scores offhand will see very little if any improvement because a more "accurate" bullet is used.

The bullet is the least of the variables when it comes to hunting positions, your form and shooting ability are the most important....

I use plain jane winchester 80 gr PSP for practice. 16ish$/100rounds, you can't go wrong, if they shoot well outta your rifle.

Thanks all for the suggestions.... I have a couple options to try .
Cat - that's exactly my objective - its hard to carry a bench in the bush ;) - and my standing freehand , kneeling and prone skills need the improvement.

thx all!
