I was just wondering what bullet is better, the .55 gr v-max or the .55 gr nosler ballistic tip I will be loading them for my .22-250 and i will be using them on coyotes. i would like to know your opinions please

Hornady bullets are readily available in Canada. As for Noslers they are a bit more difficult to find many times. I usually go with the product that is easy to obtain...but if the Noslers shine in relation to accuracy in your rifle then go that way. Just have to buy in bulk when the product come in.

I shoot V Max 40's in my 222 and 50's in my 22-250's. Thsy do come in 250 packs which is a bonus as well.

Whichever one your rifle shoots better is what makes one better than the other. As daft as that sounds. Some rifles just like one type of bullet over another. Even with the same data.

I heartily second this observation. I have a 222 Remington that prefers the 50V-Max over any other bullet. It shoots the Ballistic tip well, but the V-Max outshines it every time. My 220 Swift, on the other hand, is relatively dismal with the V-Max, and shoots the Ballistic Tip into tiny little clusters. My 225 Winchester shoots both about the same, and actually shoots the 52 Sierra HP the best. Rifles seem to have "Individual" tastes in bullets. You have to try them to make a decision. One word of caution. NEVER make a decision on what your rifle likes on the basis of one or two groups. You need more to establish real guidelines as to what your rifle really prefers. Regards, Eagleye.

Some fellows feel that the Btip has a thinner jacket and is more explosive with gopher and other small Vermin, so if you are saving pelts you may want to try another style of bullet. My Sako 22-250 shot 50gr bullets much better than any of the 55gr bullets that I tried. FS

Hard to say...both fiarly explosive. The V-max shoots really well for in my 22-250 but then again so does the 55 gr. Sierra Blitzking.

I would just shoot some 5 or 10 round groups and compare.

As said try a box of each and shoot the most accurate one. On game performance is about the same. My prefered bullet is the 50 Grain Sierra BK for 22-250. For some reason the BKs are very consistent in a whole bunch of rifles. They don't seem to show the same amount of rifle to rifle variation as Nosler.

I have 5, 22 hornets that I shoot exactly the same load in 12.6 of Lil'Gun, Fed Small Pistol primer, WW brass and a 40 grain Sierra BK. The best one groups these under 1/2 inch at 200 yards and the worst holds well under an inch at 200. Could never find any other bullet with this load where that held true across all five guns.

Whatever you chose to try, it won't take long in your country to make up your own mind.
Load up some 52 grain Berger Varmint Match, and leave the plastic bullets for the gopher shooters and hide wreckers.
